Description

Content: This module will introduce students to the CYP IAPT model, policy drivers, core concepts and the relevant national curriculum. Students will learn how supervision can enhance a trainee therapist’s knowledge of the broader CAMHS context, its range and scope, local organisational structures and the multi-agency context including work in schools. They will be introduced to relevant theory, models and interventions to support trainee therapists under their supervision within the workplace. Alongside this, students will learn the importance of supervision as a space for support, teaching, clinical discussion, problem-solving and reflection with trainees, in addition to considering how to give constructive guidance, direction and critical analysis to aid trainee therapists.

Teaching delivery: Teaching days are a combination of both in-person and online sessions. Lectures and skills-based workshops form the core teaching, and these are developed further in Practice Tutor Groups (PTGs). Students are expected to video record their supervision sessions and share these as part of small group learning and reflective practice.
